A Book in the Hand Is Worth Two on the Radio

Here's a lesson from radio-interview-land. It helps tremendously when the folks on the other end of the line (the interviewers) have a copy of the book they are interviewing you about. When your publicist does not effectively get them a copy of your book, the interviewers pretty much have to guess at what your book is about, and they end up asking questions unrelated to your book--"so what should we do about all the animals that end up at the pound?" When they do have a copy of your book, as the folks at WMJI did this morning, they tend to say things like, "this is really a terrific book. Listen to this bit about the pill." They then proceed to ead a section from your book, and laughing, and enjoying themselves, and you feel less like a monkey in a cage at the entrance to Bingo Mart. So, if you had any doubts about that, I hope this settles them for you.
